Motivations

I won’t lie to you and say that I made this blog as a gift to humanity. While I certainly made it to share information and experiences to help others, I’m also trying to earn some money. Yet, I think that can be done in a truthful, transparent, and authentic way.

I want to say that I have personally used every piece of gear listed in my trip reports or gear reviews. Some of my early trip reports are missing links mentioned in later ones. That is often because I did not use that gear on that trip.

Affiliate Link Policy

Additionally, I strive to use affiliate links that benefit the original company/manufacturer, rather than just a reseller. Unfortunately, with this being a new site, I have already had my application denied for a few brand affiliate programs. While this is disappointing, I will continue to produce more content and generate more traffic. For now, we will all have to settle for links to the typical affiliate sites.

Gear Reviews & Testing

I am coming to backpacking with a limited budget. Many items I have purchased are on the more affordable side, and I am okay with that. I am excited to have a delightful outdoor experience, and I know that it doesn’t require the newest, most expensive ultralight gear. However, if I am offered gear to review, I promise to give my honest opinion. I love good design, but if something falls short, I will point it out.
