May Backpacking in Moshannon State Forest
On Sunday, May 18-19, 2025, I hiked the Coupler Run Loop trail in the Moshannon State Forest, PA, and hammock camped at approximately the midpoint. This was my second backpacking trip, and I tried to push myself to cover more distance. However, this was a delightful experience, marred only by a few mistakes.

On April 24-25, 2025, I hiked the Pine Run Loop in Clear Creek State Forest, PA, and hammock camped at approximately the midpoint. This was my first actual backpacking trip, and despite having to hike out in the rain, it was one of the best outdoor experiences I’ve had.

March Hammock Camp and Hike in Raccoon Creek State Park PA
On March 24-25, 2025, I went to Raccoon Creek State Park in southwestern PA for my first “official” hammock camp. I had a mediocre hang cold weather, forgotten gear, and noisy nighttime wildlife. But I had great hikes near the campsite before bed and on the Forest and Lake Trail the next day. It was a great learning experience with some beautiful views.

March Hike and Test Setup on a Farm in West Virginia
On March 1, 2025, while near Fairmont, WV, I wanted to go on a short hike and hammock camp overnight. A change in the weather forecast slightly altered my plans, but it did not deter me from testing out my gear and getting some exercise. Even with the chilly winter weather, I was getting cabin fever.
